“We Thought We Would Never Return” — Freed Lassa Victim Recounts Horror as Parents Await

Heartbreaking stories are emerging from Lassa community in Borno State as parents of abducted students and a recently freed victim recounted the traumatic ordeal following the attack on a secondary school in the area.

The attack, which occurred while students were sitting for examinations, left families in shock and plunged the community into grief and uncertainty as armed men stormed the school and whisked away dozens of students and staff members.

One of the victims who regained freedom described moments of fear and confusion during the abduction, saying many of the captives feared they would never return to their families. The survivor recalled the terrifying experience as the victims were moved through remote areas while struggling with exhaustion, hunger, and uncertainty about their fate.

Parents of those still missing have continued to gather in the community, anxiously waiting for updates from security agencies and government officials. Many families expressed frustration and helplessness as they appealed for urgent action to secure the release of their children.
